75 Minutes of Pleasure

Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA

Actually, this was about 45 minutes of pleasure. 75 minute IPA is a blend of Dogfish Head’s 60 & 90 minute IPAs, made with maple syrup. My bottle wasn’t very fresh, so I’m guessing the hops suffered but it still had a pretty good nose full of orange peel, grapefruit and earth, and a nicely balanced hoppy and malty taste with the bitterness lingering quite awhile. Hop monsters are ok on occasion, but this balance between the bitterness and the malty caramel/toffee notes, are what make this one of my favorite beers! At 7.5% you get all the abv joy, but it is well hidden in the delicious flavor. Rate beer-99. Beer advocate- 92  Me- 4 out of 5

After posting to YouTube, my friend Drew Yeager, a brewer at Dogfish Head, commented with a little more insight into the makeup of this beer:

“Great job kid! Just a little more info on the beer for ya! It is a 1:1 ratio of 60 & 90 that’s dry hopped with whole cone cascade hops instead of the usual hops for 60/90. The maple syrup is added directly to the bottle with yeast to bottle condition the beer, which is why it is not a pronounced flavor! Hope to see more DFH reviews” -yeagrrrable

What’s your fave? 60, 75, 90, 120 ???
