Out of all the beers I’ve managed to review on this blog, The Lost Abbey brews are perhaps the most fun to spill some ink over, so to speak.

Just for a minute, close your eyes and imagine yourself soaking up the bright sunlight and the tropical or near tropical heat while listening to the sound of the surf washing across a sandy beach, and let’s not forget the palm trees swishing in the gentle coastal breeze. What style of beer comes to mind with that image? Well, if you’re like most beer drinkers, then the obvious answer simple: pale lagers—perhaps a San Miguel, a Tiger, or maybe a Singha. After all, some of these beers offer up…Continue

All in all, Dogfish Head’s Indian Brown Ale is a well-balance beer load with a variety of subtle flavors. With the predominance of a malt sweetness that is clearly consistent with what one would expect from a brown ale style, but with the added hop bitterness in the finish, its hybridity shines through without betraying its brown ale aspirations. Nøgne Ø Two Captains is emblematic of the brewery’s attention to both subtly and aggressiveness, with the balance in favor of the aggressive side of beer.

Mikkeller’s USAlive certainly reflects Mikkel’s ceaseless capacity to make some of the most interesting, innovative, and complex brews around.

I certainly recommend trying Haandbryggeriet’s Haandbic if for no other reason than to experience its originality and daring side.

Nørrebro’s New York Lager is a beer that I would really love to like, but find it hard to actually do so. For starters, the timidity of its slightly off-white head was rather disappointing, although it was still well-retained. The translucent copper color is gives Nørrebro’s New York Lager an inviting and refreshing look. The lacing, however...…Continue

I know this is a bit late in the game, but did not get a chance to drink it earlier.
