Extreme IPA (II)

When I saw Rock Art Extreme IPA (II) I knew it was just what I was looking for.  The label says "This ain't for no Mama's Boy or Daddy's Girl.  Yep, that's definitely for me.

Maximus Ale

I haven't met a Lagunitas brew I haven't liked. When I see a Lagunitas beer I haven't tried I'll snatch up a bottle or two and give it a go knowing I won't be disappointed. They've made me happy again with Maximus Ale.

Ruthless Rye IPA

2013-04-10 18.43.21

  • Name: Ruthless Rye IPA
  • Brewer: Sierra Nevada
  • Type: American Rye
  • Alcohol Volume: 6.6
  • From: The Offie, Leicester
  • Price: £3.65

In short: A bitter and subtly spiced American IPA

To me rye beer has always seemed a bit like something out of an alternate universe, which says something about how little you see it in…

Dogfish Head Sixty-one

Now, Dogfish Head has rarely – like never – disappointed me.  So, I’m used to being impressed by their beers.  This Sixty-one is a “WOW”!

All Day IPA

The beer guy at my go-to beer store knows how much I like IPA's.  So when he suggested that I give All Day IPA a try and went on to add that it was his favorite IPA.  He has a knack for steering me in the right direction so I decided to give it a go. …

Berkshire Brewing Company

I love it when a beer run leads to a beer tasting. This was one of those trips with a bonus waiting for me right inside the door. Berkshire Brewing Company was set up with several bottles of their beer chilling in a bucket of ice. Did I stop to give them a try? You bet your sweet bippy.…

Enjoy By 04/01/13

Stone created the Enjoy By beers to be consumed as fresh as possible. Ideally, when you drink one you will experience maximum hoppiness and peak flavor.

Dagnammit! I really want to love this beer. I really, really did. But I didn't. In fact, I can't say that I liked it much at all.

Beer, burger and bourbon

Last night we went to Plan B for beer, burgers and bourbon. In that order.

Besides having very creative burger combinations and an outstanding selection of bourbon, Plan B has a varied and constantly changing rotating beer list. So, it’s always fun to see what goodliness they have on tap.…

Flower Power

I walked into my favorite beer store and my favorite beer guy says to me, "You like IPA's."

How cool is it that he knows what I like? That's why he's my favorite. :)

"Here, you'll like this." As he handed me a six pack of Flower Power brewed by Ithaca Beer Co. Okay, I'll give it a go. Who am I to argue?…

Three Six Points

I recently wrote a piece about my theory on why beer that is brewed in Brooklyn leaves an odd aftertaste - read here.

Six Point beer,  which is brewed in Brooklyn, is no exception. Except that this odd left…

There’s a new brewery in town . . . Two Roads Brewery.  There is a lot of buzz and the opening is much anticipated.  But, alas, we still have a few weeks to wait to sample their wares.

Now wait a just minute or 60 or 90 or 120

One of my favorite go-to IPA's is Dogfish Head's 60 Minute IPA.  It's a great middle of the road IPA . . . not too bitter, not too hoppy, and very refreshing . . . pretty much IPA perfection.

So, as a natural matter of course it's predictable to assume that I'd be curious to try the 90 Minute and…

Pyramid Thunderhead IPA

It's been a few years since I visited the Seattle area, but when I was there I met some friends at Pyramid Brewing Company.  As I recall it was a great beer drinking experience.
