Beer off-flavors 101: The dreaded skunk

UV contamination can happen during any step in the brewery to drinker chain. If you’re at a grocery or liquor store and see green or clear bottles unprotected under florescent lighting then take your business elsewhere. If your buddy pulls up with a bunch of clear bottles in his sunny backseat…well maybe it just wasn’t a bad batch. A good example to try at home is to pour an IPA or any light-hued, hop forward elixir in a clear pint glass on a sunny day then go out on the patio for a few minutes…See More

"I don't secondary and never had a problem with clarity, just don't want to involve the risk of infection and I'm too lazy I guess. I do crash cool for a few days though, which helps drop the sediment and then dry-hop in the keg."

I'm a craft beer nut residing in Clearwater, Fl. Currently I'm the beer writer for Tayloreason.com and provide beer reviews, taste tests, info. on local beer events/bars, and beer & bbq recipes/pairing. When I'm not writing or working I enjoy homebrewing and disc golf.
How did you get started as a beer blogger?
always enjoyed writing in college, had some extra time and decided to take the plunge. Taylor Eason is a long-time wine writer and an ex-client, I sent a sample review in and have been writing ever since.
