I'm a medievalist by training. My dissertation is on medieval English and Celtic literatures. I discovered beer and cider and mead in England, and only discovered that America makes beer just as good--and sometimes better--in the last ten years or so. I'm having enormous fun writing about beer, and learning so very much. My "specialty" is beermed/cider in a historic context.

How did you get started as a beer blogger?

I'm still trying to get a teaching job after finishing my Ph.D. and discovered that I could pay bills by blogging. I"ve been dong my own blogs and teaching with and about Web writing for years. My boss needed someone with opinions to write about beer and wine, and I have lots of opinions.
