Battle of Britain - Wolfs Brewery (3.9% ABV)

Battle of Britain is rather an odd name for a beer in my opinion, but they donate 10p from each bottle to charities affiliated with WW2 veterans, so it's worth buying just for that reason. No mention of any proceeds going to Luftwaffe veterans though?Nice clear copper colour with a thick off-white head top, and a strong presence of dark toasted, sweet malt and Floral hopsOn the palate, this has a very woody character, with plenty of brown malt and a thick toffee sweetness. Pecans and walnut…See More

Dead Pony Club - Brewdog (3.8% ABV)

I recently had a Brewdog Punk IPA which I loved, despite trying the stuff about 4 years ago and I turned my nose up at it. My palate was a lot less refined then and not accustomed to the hop-heavy craft beers that are en vogue today. So, due to my new found love of Brewdog, I decided I would give their Dead Pony Club American pale ale a whirl.Read More…See More

Christmas Ale - Shepherd Neame (7% ABV)

Ho ho ho! May as well get in to the Christmas spirit with this special edition brew from Shepherd Neame that is brewed with marrow from reindeer antlers, and uses melted snow from Lapland. Unfortunately, only one of those previous facts is true (probably), so it might just taste all other Shepherd Neame brews but with more…See More

Pannepeut - De Struise Brouwers (10% ABV)

This Belgium quad is ranked 93 on BeerAdvocate so should be impressive. The previous De Struise offerings I have tried were very good, so I'm sure that this will not disappoint.Pours a deep, dark mahogany and kicks up a thick tan head. Tons of lacing and retention. Looks 'yeasty'.…See More

Everyone loves Guinness... don't they? Well, It is probably the most famous brew in the world, and for good reason. However, they have a secret weapon in the shape of their 'Foreign Extra' which packs a healthy 7.5% ABV. It's very popular with the Nigerians, apparentlyRead morehttp://www.lovelybrew.com/2012/11/guinness-foreign-extra-guinness-75-abv.htmlSee More

Old Peculier - Theakston (5.6% ABV)

This beer looks great - deep, dark mahogany with a cherry & ruby hue and a foamy mocha head which offers some retention and lacing. On the nose, there is plenty of toasted crystal and chocolate malt giving off a sugary sweet aromas.  Complex fruit character with background hints of cocoa and coffee.  No discernible hops that I can make out. …See More
