I began to get into craft beer a few years ago, which led down the dark spiraling path of madness that is homebrewing. I also enjoy writing, so they all sort of congealed into one giant mass of awesome. I suppose 'a congealed mass' isn't the most appealing description of a blog, but what are you gonna do? Not like this keyboard has a backspace key or anything.
How did you get started as a beer blogger?
Homebrewing led (through a 'small world' story) to my befriending Ethan, who ran Beer-O-Vision. Never one to turn down an opportunity to stroke my own ego, when he asked if I'd be interested in writing for the site I jumped at the chance.

"I used to use IRC a lot, but it was many moons ago. The only potential issue is the international nature of the group, so timing would be difficult. But in principle, it's a good idea and cleaner than Twitter."

Chat?

I saw that Ning has a chat at the bottom. I hang around various IRC channels all day anyway, so if we wanted to actually have a realtime discussion, I'd love to have a room we could all congregate in. (Mibbit is a web-based IRC client, so people who aren't as geeky as I am could get by without downloading anything.Plus, as I hinted at in the Conference thread, it would be INFINITELY better suited to host group tasting events than Twitter.See More

"A decent spam filter (Spam Karma 2 for WP) will keep that out anyway. You don't need much (ie any) coding experience to use WP themes, though if you have a little (or know someone who does) you can do all kinds of awesome things with them."
