I'd like to start a conversation about earning income as a blogger.  Does anyone have success stories to share?  Any advice on selling ad space on your blog?  If so, please share them here.

"Bloggers, social media are driving craft brew trend"

http://m.omaha.com/om/pm_23100/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=hLPMeUjh

I wish I had a success story.  The best ads I had were beer related books, but Borders (obviously) stopped being a partner for Google Ads a few months before their bankruptcy.  Ah well.

I haven't earned anything directly, however I do write some paid articles now for other sites and if I hadn't blogged those would never have happened.

Good to see this thread revived. Funny - I got my first commission check from the Beer of the Month Club this week: a whopping $12. Plus the $15 I got from CentUp, we're looking at a total of almost $30! I expect to see the $100 Google Adsense payout in three years or so...

OK, direct revenue from my blog is comical. But some interesting things have happened since I posed the "Earning money through blogging" question almost three years ago. For one, I got hired to manage the homebrewing blog at eckraus.com, a gig I've had for two years now. I've also been supplying digital marketing service to small businesses. And then there's the occasional freelance writing gig. So even though the income from the Local Beer Blog is next to nothing, the experience has been instrumental in leading to other "real money" gigs. In this digital age, more and more companies are looking for people who can write and generate content. So if you're reading this now, don't give up hope! Keep writing about your passion and the opportunities will come!

That's awesome! I'd like it to lead to that at some point, although I'll settle for the odd free beer and invite to attend events as "media". My day job pays me way more than writing ever will, but I enjoy writing the most so I like to do it. It's also lead to some great trades.

Great blog by the way, I like the "hire me" tag at the bottom of your about me section. That is smart.
